Following a sell-out event on campus in 2019, TEDx returns to DMU with the university's second TEDxDemontfortUWomen conference this autumn. We are inviting DMU staff, students and alumni to apply to give a talk.
Taking place online, this half-day event will once again bring brilliant speakers, thought-provoking video and mind-blowing conversation. TEDx differs from the globally-screened TED talks in that its focus is on sharing and showcasing ideas, great projects and thought-provoking topics at a local level.
TEDx events are fully planned and co-ordinated independently, on a community-by-community basis. The content and design of each TEDx event is unique but all have features in common – the goal is to spark conversation, connection and community.
Organised in collaboration between DMUworks Enterprise, the university's student and graduate enterprise team and the DMU Women network, our theme this year is Women Leading Social Change in Leicester. For this year's event, all speakers will either be DMU staff, a current DMU student or DMU alumni.
How to apply?
If you would like to apply to be one of our speakers, you'll need to complete the TEDxDemontfortUWomen application form and send it together with a 60-second video featuring yourself explaining what the message of your talk is and why you think it's important for people to hear it.
Please send these to tedxdemontfortu@dmu.ac.uk no later than 10am on Monday 14 September 2020. All speakers must have access to equipment which allows them to access the event remotely (online) and be seen and heard.
Speakers will be chosen by an internal panel and their decision is final.
TEDxDemontfortUWomen will take place online on Tuesday 24 November 2020. Details on how you can obtain a ticket to watch the event will be announced soon.
