Things you need to know

Learning Services and Library

There’s loads of information for you to take in when you start your journey with us, so we’ve created the ‘Your DMU Welcome’ mini-site to put all this information in one place. It includes welcome and introductions from:

  • Vice Chancellor, Professor Katie Normington
  • Your Dean of Faculty
  • DMU Library
  • DMU Student Welfare
  • DMU Careers
  • DMU Global.

There’s also a link for you to take the DMU self-assessment quiz, to benchmark your current confidence levels. This is housed in DMU BaseCamp and can be taken at any time during your studies. Many students find it useful to track their development as they progress and use it as a tool to discuss progress with tutors. For support and advice with your academic skills development, drop in (in person or virtually) and see the Library and Learning Services.

Are you a student with a disability or mental health condition? DMU Library, DMU Student Welfare and DMU Assistive Technology teams have specialist information on the services and support available to you. For further information, visit DMU Library Guides.

Get started with all things DMU

The key systems and software you need to know to support your learning are all introduced to you in a specially created induction: get started with all things DMU IT. This includes:

  • LearningZone
  • Student Email
  • MS365
  • Microsoft Teams

For further guidance, check out the Student IT Handbook.
