To mark the United Nations (UN) International Day of Persons with Disabilities and recognise #PurpleLightUp, DMU's Trinity House will be lit purple on Friday 3 December.
The International Day of Persons with Disabilities has been observed and promoted by the UN since 1992. The day aims to raise awareness of people with disabilities, as well as support their dignity and rights, and increase understanding of disability issues.
As a mark of respect for the UN International Day of Persons with Disabilities, #PurpleLightUp is a global movement that celebrates and raises awareness of the economic contribution that the 386 million disabled employees around the world have made.
Leanne Herbert, Co-Chair of DMU's Disabled Staff Network, said: "Work and study can be challenging for people with disabilities, medical conditions, learning differences and mental health conditions.
"DMU's Disabled Staff Network is participating by lighting up the outside of Trinity House in purple, to raise consciousness of disability in our staff and student community and to recognise the positive contribution disabled people make to society as a whole.
"You can also show your support by getting involved and wearing purple on the day."

We would also like to encourage you to wear purple on the day – please feel free to share your pictures with us on social media by tagging DMU on Twitter (@dmuleicester and @equalitydmu) and Instagram (@dmuleicester), using the hashtag #PurpleLightUp.
