Leicester Pride, one of England’s largest free LGBTQ+ events, is taking place on Saturday 31 August at Abbey Park, 12noon-9pm (free entry).

The event starts with a parade at 12pm from Humberstone Gate heading through the city centre via Horsefair Street, proceeding Jubilee Square, and along High Street, then continuing onto Belgrave Gate and arriving at Abbey Park around 1pm.

The vibrant parade sees thousands of people march through the city centre towards Abbey Park, where the family-friendly Pride festivities continue with live music including a Queen tribute act, dance acts, DJs, drag artists, food and drink, market stalls, a fun fair, a firework display and much more.

Zara Hooley, co-chair of the DMU LGBTQ+ and Allies Network Group said: “Leicester Pride is such an important event for the city and is about acceptance, equality, and celebrating the LGBTQ+ community. It is also a great family-friendly event for the community and allies to get together and celebrate diverse identities.”

DMU actively champions and values diversity and is proud of and supports its LGBTQ+ staff and students.
