Leicester Gallery Shop and the Art and Design Materials Shop are combining! We’re pleased to let you know that from September 2022, you’ll be able to do all of your shopping with the Faculty of Arts, Design and Humanities from one location – Leicester Gallery in the Vijay Patel Building.
We’ll continue to stock all of your favourite gallery ranges but you’ll also be able to make art and design workshop material purchases from within Leicester Gallery Shop too. This includes purchases of all workshop resale materials for students on art and design programmes.
Over the summer, Leicester Gallery and Leicester Gallery Shop will be open as usual, and from September you’ll be able to visit Leicester Gallery to also make art and design materials purchases too. We’ll share more details closer to the time, but in the meantime please see below for more information.

When will the Art and Design Materials Shop close?
The Art and Design Materials Shop closed to the public at 4.30pm on 10 June and will open as part of Leicester Gallery Shop in September 2022.
What will happen if I need to purchase art and design materials over the summer?
The materials shop will close as usual over the summer, and we’ll be using this valuable time to build our new and improved retail hub in Leicester Gallery. For any workshop resale purchases please come to Leicester Gallery Shop from 27 June.
How do l contact either shop after 10 June?
Effective immediately, please contact the Leicester Gallery team with any enquiries at leicestergallery@dmu.ac.uk or pop in and see us at Leicester Gallery between noon and 5pm, Monday to Saturday.
I will be joining DMU this September as a Foundation in Art and Design student, and my course starts in late August. How will l purchase the materials pack for my course?
Students can purchase a materials pack via our DMU online store. A payment link will be provided during July 2022 and the pack will be ready for collection from the date the course commences.
What is happening to the teams that currently work in the Art and Design Materials Shop and in Leicester Gallery Shop?
From Monday 13 June the two teams will be combined and all existing staff will be part of the Leicester Gallery team. There are no changes to any staff posts.
What will the opening times be for Leicester Gallery Shop?
Leicester Gallery Shop is currently open Monday to Saturday, noon-5pm, with extended hours for special events. These hours will remain the same over summer, with longer opening hours starting from September 2022. We’ll update you nearer the time.
How can students, staff and alumni get involved in Leicester Gallery Shop?
There are already lots of ways that our students, staff and alumni are involved in Leicester Gallery Shop, including as valued stockists, by collaborating on our crafty events and in creating our beautiful new visual identity.
