Students of the new International Incorporated Master’s (IIM) in Engineering at DMU’s Leicester International Pathway College (LIPC) will gain an industry-relevant portfolio and the ability to lead large engineering projects, and there are options to start in September, January, April and June.

The college opened in June 2014, and is providing pathways for international students to prepare them for entry to DMU degree programmes.

The latest pathway which starts welcoming students in September 2015, will allow progression on to master’s degrees in Electronic Engineering, Engineering Management, Mechatronics and Mechanical Engineering.

Opening up a whole world of career opportunities, graduates have gone on to work for Jaguar Land Rover, Rolls-Royce and BAE Systems.

Adil Ayyad Aljohani from Saudi Arabia, currently studying MSc Electronic Engineering, said: “The technology department provides a very high quality of teaching. And the staff are friendly and helpful.

“I learnt a lot in a very short time. The program I chose has different modules where we can learn different engineering knowledge and each module has theory and practical work as well.

“The modules which I have done so far are interesting and really challenging at the same time.”

“My international experience prepares me for my future career, and I will have more opportunity to work for multinational companies in my country.”

“The benefits of travelling to a different country to study are the experience in a global hub and emerging language skills, becoming really independent and making friends from all over the world.”

Many of DMU’s engineering courses are accredited by professional bodies such as the Institution of Engineering and Technology (IET) and the Institution of Mechanical Engineers (IMechE), the Engineering Council.

Proving a popular choice, LIPC has welcomed more than 130 students on to pathway programmes from 26 countries including Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, Cyprus and China.
