Changes to the DMU Enterprise and Entrepreneurship team

The DMU Enterprise and Entrepreneurship team has rebranded itself and will be now known as DMU Made.

Part of the award-winning DMU Careers Team, DMU Made offers support for the university’s students and recent graduates (up to 15 months) interested in self-employment, freelancing or developing entrepreneurial skills.

The team is behind various popular programmes and initiatives, including a Pitch2Win competition, the Graduate Champions Catapult for recent graduates looking to get into freelancing and self-employment and The Enterprise Placement Year, which supports students to develop their ideas from a concept to a new business.  The initiative replaces a traditional placement year and participants benefit from visits to industry as well as weekly masterclasses to help develop their business acumen.

For students looking to break into the performing arts and digital industries, this year’s DMU Made Creative Industries programme will be starting on Thursday 18 April. Open to all students and recent graduates, this is a series of practical and online workshops exploring self-employment and freelancing across a number of specific areas including podcasting, radio, videography and YouTube content, music and performing arts/event management.

The practical sessions will be led by industry professionals, such as BBC Radio 1’s Calum Leslie, Dr Yasin El Ashrafi BEM who is the Managing Director of HQ Recording and KISS presenter Sam Darlaston.

Students can also now register for a free online Summer School. Now in its fifth year, this series of workshops connects students based at the Leicester campus with those studying at DMU Dubai and Asia Pacific University, which is also a partner university to DMU.

There are also opportunities to travel the world with the DMU Made team through DMU Global trips. Previous destinations include Bergen, Norway; Tallinn, Estonia and New York City, USA.

For more information about the team as well as the option to book a one-to-one with them, go to the DMU Made website.
