An Applicant Taster Day is an unmissable opportunity to get hands-on with your chosen course. Tailored for DMU applicants and the course you've applied for, we'll be holding demonstrations, exercises and activities that give you a flavour of what you'll experience when studying here at DMU. Some sessions are subject to availability and have limited spaces, so we recommend booking early.

Accounting and Finance
Tax Avoidance
In this session you will get the chance to experience a Tax avoidance lecture delivered by Principal Lecturer Dawn Davison. You'll also be able to ask current Accounting and Finance students any questions you have about the course and learn more about life at DMU.

Business and Management
As organisations continue to grow and develop, those with the knowledge and understanding of how people can shape and influence change are in a great position to help businesses succeed. In this session you'll get an introduction into how Business and Management is taught at DMU and how you can shape your learning to suit your preference. You'll also be able to ask current Business and Management students any questions you have about the course and learn more about life at DMU.

Economics
Interactive Market Game
In the session we will play an interactive market game where you can buy and sell Tokens. We will then show you how economic theory can be used to predict what happened in the market. This will allow a general discussion on the role of economic forecasting and the application of economics. And you may even win some money.

Human Resource Management
In this session you will be given an introductory lecture in Human Resource Management touching on the range of topics you can expect to learn about here at De Montfort University. You will also have the opportunity to talk to a current Human Resource Management student and ask them any questions you may have about the degree at DMU

Marketing
Social Media Masterclass
You will explore social media and content marketing trends in 2020, which you'll then apply to a real life marketing challenge for a live case study, which some of our second year students are currently working on. This session will give you a flavour of the type of work our students do here, whilst also learning some of the latest marketing and advertising trends.

Politics and International Relations
Global Politics
In this session you will gain an insight into global politics and contemporary international relations. We will also be joined by members from the different DMU politics societies who will speak about their experiences and how they've grown at DMU. Picking up key skills such as public speaking and debating, as well as touching on the opportunities available away from the classroom.
