Sexual Violence and Domestic Violence Research Network

The Sexual Violence and Domestic Violence (SVDV) Research Network at De Montfort University started out in 2012 as a small collaboration between the Community and Criminal Justice Division and the School of Business and Law. Since that time the network has rapidly expanded to include a wide range of academic staff across the faculties of Arts and Humanities, Technology, Health and Life Sciences and Business and Law, from a variety of subject disciplines, together with professionals in other non-academic organisational roles.

Staff across the network have established a number of strong partnerships with other academics, government bodies, policy makers, statutory, private and voluntary sector professionals and victim/survivor groups as the result of collaborative research and learning development work at local, regional, European and international levels.

A very exiting strength of the network is its cross disciplinary nature, which provides new and innovative ways of creating dialogue, investigating and influencing policy and practice.

Take a look at the events and project pages to see the variety of work which has been undertaken to date.

The network’s primary objectives are to facilitate and support staff, students, policy makers, external agencies and the public in addressing issues relating to SVDV and seeks to achieve this via four core areas of activity which are:

  • Research and Policy Impact
  • Knowledge transfer, including seminar and conference events
  • Inter-disciplinary teaching and programme development
  • Dissemination and Publication

In 2015 SVDV secured funds to extend the network to establish a web based profile. Visit the SVDV website for more information.
