Welcome back to DMU!

Learn more

We can’t wait to see our returning students back on campus – you are not only the heartbeat of our university but the buzz and energy you create is something we all thrive on.

We know that the last 18 months have been difficult and challenging for so many of you. No one has been untouched by the Covid-19 pandemic and almost every business, organisation and individual has had to make changes and get used to a new way of doing things. During this period, we have carefully listened to your feedback and sought to address the issues flagged to us. We also know how important it is for you to have the real university experience.

You will soon have the opportunity to meet new friends or reconnect with those you’ve missed seeing in-person throughout the past few months. You might be seeing our beautiful campus for the first time in a while or going back to familiar spots in the city. Either way, the near return to normality means that DMU’s campus and the city of Leicester is full of opportunity once more.

It is our job, this year, to put that opportunity firmly into both of your hands, and give you the experience of a lifetime while you’re here.

We’ve pulled together some of the essential information that our returning students need to know in order to make the most of your time with us.

basecamp

DMU Base Camp – supporting your learning over the next academic year and beyond

We’ve developed an interactive course to boost your learning experience at DMU and to help you take advantage of all of the resources available. This optional course is open to all new and returning students and will serve as a guide to university study that you can revisit every year as you progress through your programme.

Base Camp is designed to develop confidence in studying and an increased awareness of how to access support. It covers key elements including teaching and learning, time management, digital skills, assessment and good academic practices and feedback.

Relevant links to information and support can be found at the end of the course. We encourage all students to take the course now. It will be available throughout the year to complete via your Blackboard Faculty Community Site.
