#BUCSWednesday returned on 10 October with 23 fixtures scheduled home and away.
One of the first fixtures of the day saw Netball 2nd team take on the University of Leicester (UoL) Netball 3rd.
The match took place at the QE2 and #TeamDMU seemed confident and prepared for the game and matched UoL in the first two quarters which saw them trailing by only one goal at half time (11-12).
The game took its toll though and a difficult third quarter saw UoL pull away, but #TeamDMU fought hard and showed lots of passion.
UoL’s lead proved too much in the final quarter despite a decrease in points difference and the match ended 20-32 in UoL’s favour.
Next up were Men’s Volleyball 1st (DMU Dragons) who took on Worcester University Men’s 1st.
The Dragons started strongly and took control of the game very early on, winning the first game 25-14.
The 2nd game looked very routine for #TeamDMU as they took the game 25-10 and it seemed like it could be quite a quick day at the office.
This was confirmed as #TeamDMU continued to dominate in the 3rd, and what turned out to be final game, sealing the win 25-16 and 3-0 overall.
The final fixture of the day was Men’s Basketball 2nd (DMU Griffins) v Loughborough University 4th in a local derby.
The Griffins had a lot of support which provided a great atmosphere inside the QE2 sports hall and spurred the boys on.
The fast-paced game seemed very much in #TeamDMU’s control from the start, as they took a healthy 34-20 lead going into half time.
The second half of the match saw the Griffins grow into the game and with fast-flowing passing the game ended 67-34 in favour of #TeamDMU and a vital win for their first BUCS match of the year.
