STAFF AND STUDENT EVENT
The COP26 summit in Glasgow brings parties together to accelerate action towards the goals of the Paris Agreement and the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change. As part of De Montfort University’s commitment to the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals and its role as the United Kingdom’s only UNAI SDG Hub, a series of events and activities have been organised to co-inside with the summit. During this time, the DMU SDG Hub is gathering 26 Ideas for COP 26 which the university can promote to political leaders and demonstrate best practice as we seek to underpin our teaching, research, knowledge exchange and campus operations with improved sustainability and a long-term reduction in carbon outputs.
This ‘26 Ideas for COP 26’ event allows people to share their suggestions for a more sustainable future. Staff and students can hear more about innovations from the DMU SDG16 Hub and sustainability plans for DMU as well as join a discussion about what our 26 recommendations for COP26 should be, and how they can be implemented.
The event starts at 9am on November 3 with an introduction from DMU Vice-Chancellor Katie Normington, followed by guest speakers and a Q+A. The event is chaired by Pro Vice-Chancellor (Sustainability) Simon Oldroyd.
Staff and student are encouraged to submit their ideas to dmusdg16@dmu.ac.uk in advance or use the online form here.
