About the course

Entrants via this route must be employed into a suitable role in an ambulance service trust and have the support of their employer for the apprenticeship programme. This apprenticeship is currently only available for individuals that are employed by East Midlands Ambulance Service as Technicians.

What you will study

The apprenticeship route has been designed with a blended learning approach. This means that learning material is delivered both off site through the university’s virtual learning environment and on campus through practical workshops, clinical skills sessions, lectures, and simulation sessions. All content is recorded and available on the virtual learning environment at any time. As a result, there is flexibility to cater for different learning needs with a variety of learning experiences.

Apprentices will be encouraged to critically reflect on their own practice while with their employer in order to maximise the learning experience and future development. Clinical experiences and reflection are documented through a portfolio that showcases the apprentice’s development throughout the programme.

The duration of the apprenticeship is three years, with opportunity to reduce this with recognised prior learning.
