The Institute of Energy and Sustainable Development (IESD) carries out research on the ‘smart grid’ and electric vehicles.
This includes work on how home heating and appliances can be controlled to reduce stress on the electricity grid and save customers money, and a project to understand better how people use and charge electric cars.
The IESD also has its own Nissan Leaf electric car for research projects.
