De Montfort University boasts world-class art and design facilities and has a history of supporting and preparing talented creative students towards careers in the creative industries.
As students and their families grapple with the cost-of-living crisis, for students on creative courses there are extra costs associated with their studies to contend with.
For our Textile and Fabric based courses we do all we can to partner with industry in order to provide access to off-cuts and benefit from donations of resources, but often there is a shortfall between what is available and what is needed, particularly for final year shows which provide an important platform for students to showcase their talents to a huge network of potential employers.
Students are often offered incredible opportunities to undertake short internships, placements or attend interviews or events, giving them experiences and connections that may change the trajectory of their careers, but which require additional funds to cover travel and accommodation.

What amount will help/are we asking for? 
- £50: provides essential backstage expenses, ensuring smooth operations behind the scenes at graduate showcase events
- £500: covers the costs of resources and materials, enabling our students to have creative freedom when developing their designs.
- £750: hires professional models, enhancing the quality and impact of brochures and student portfolios
- £1000: covers travel and accommodation costs for students to embark on short internships, secure placements, attend interviews, or participate in events
