Peer Observation
DMU support a peer observation scheme for all staff involved in teaching and supporting learning. Through annually observing one colleague and being observed, peers learn from each other and have space to discuss their current teaching and learning. Please see Peer Observation – Guidelines for Staff.
The Peer Observation Form has been redesigned to help the observer take a more flexible approach in terms of the needs of their own discipline. All sections of the form should be completed. The observee and observer need to meet to discuss feedback and the completed form is retained by the observee. The last page of the observation form, which identifies shared practice and development, should be copied and given to the Head of Department. Heads of Departments use the forms to share practice and identify development for their departments and programmes.
Faculties are free to implement the new scheme in the most appropriate way for them. Peer Observation Scheme gives a suggested process.
Further details of Faculty and School processes can be obtained from your Chair of Learning and Teaching Committee or Head of School/Department.
