Effective Learning and Teaching at DMU
This course is designed for DMU Staff who are new to teaching in Higher Education, looking to develop their skills and for postgraduates who teach in any discipline at DMU.
This is a three-day course encompassing key DMU strategic initiatives which will enable you to add an essential DMU flavour to your teaching.
The course is split into three learning units, with one unit delivered per day. Each unit has a practical focus, enabling participants to quickly develop core teaching skills that they can use straight away.
Topics covered include:
- Lesson planning
- Small and large group teaching
- Presentation skills
- Assessment and feedback techniques
This course is aligned with the Higher Education Academy’s United Kingdom Professional Standards Framework (UKPSF) and will help you take your first steps towards becoming an Associate Fellow of the Higher Education Academy. It’s also a prerequisite for anyone wishing to gain entry to DMU’s new Postgraduate Certificate in Learning and Teaching in Higher Education (PGCLTHE) and is considered essential for anyone that is new to teaching in Higher Education.
