Top tips on pitching, scaling up your business and innovation vouchers to kick-start new business initiatives are just some of the events being run by De Montfort University Leicester (DMU) as part of this year’s
Leicester Business Festival.
The festival, which takes place next month, marks its 10th anniversary this year. It was set up to celebrate the work being done by businesses in the region, highlight its investment potential and create a platform for sharing best business practices.
“DMU is proud to have been part of the festival since the very beginning,” said Helen Donnellan, director of Research, Business and Innovation at DMU. “The festival brings together so many people – businesses, public sector organisations and universities all working together to support the development of our economy.”
Leicester Business Festival takes place from November 4 to 15, with more than 70 free events taking place across those two weeks.
DMU’s events include the Brewing Innovative Ideas roadshow in Rutland, which sees DMU, the University of Leicester, Loughborough University and Rutland County Council team up for a drop-in event aimed at supporting businesses.
On November 6, DMU Associate Professor and director of the East Midlands Cyber Security Cluster Dr Ismini Vasileiou will be at the Mattioli Arena to advise on the best ways to protect your business against cyber threats.
DMU Made hosts its TEDx-style entrepreneurship day and awards at DMU Venue on November 5 and entrepreneurs can get tips on pitching and discover how to get their companies in front of potential investors as DMU and Barclays Eagle Labs introduce the Demo Directory on November 14.

Each year, the festival has showcased innovations ranging from driverless pods to flying taxis, creating connections and boosting the regional economy. In 2023 alone, the festival raised more than £20,000 for Leicester Hospitals Charity.
