Musicians at DMU offered chance to be heard at the one of world's biggest shows

Musicians at De Montfort University Leicester (DMU) are being invited to contribute to a composition which will be played at the one of the biggest events in the world.

It is exactly one year to go until Expo 2020 opens in Dubai, with DMU playing a key role as one of the UK’s founding partners for the six-month event.

The international spectacular – postponed for a year because of the COVID-19 pandemic - will showcase the very best in technology, culture, education, business and more from across the world.

And as founding partner, DMU will be right at the heart of the UK Pavilion, run by the government’s Department for International Trade (DIT).

To mark the milestone, the DIT has invited DMU staff and students to contribute to a soundscape which will be played in the choral space at the centre of the UK Pavilion, the spectacular architectural creation which will be the home of the UK’s programme of exhibitions.

The goal is to create a piece of music incorporating contributions from around the world, with musicians sending in recordings of themselves singing, playing, humming or tapping to the soundscape music in order to be featured in the final track.

Full instructions on how to record and upload a clip are here, where people can also download a recording pack which contains all the necessary information, musical score, backing track plus audio and midi files.

These recordings will be incorporated into the soundscape to reflect an expansive collective message of a shared future with hints of AI and Space and the final track will be played in the UK Pavilion during Expo 2020.
