Applications open for #DMUglobal's mass trip to New York!

Start spreading the news! #DMUglobal’s flagship mass trip to New York City is now open for applications.

De Montfort University Leicester (DMU) will be taking up to 1,000 final year undergraduate students to the Big Apple for a week they will never forget, blending academic experiences with amazing opportunities that are simply not available to tourists.

Don’t worry if you aren’t a final year student, as we will also be organising a mass trip to Hong Kong in March for second year students, and taking first year students to Berlin in June. More information about these trips will released in the coming weeks and months.

The trip to New York will take place between January 4 -10, and students will stay in The Row NYC or The Manhattan Hotel at Times Square, both in the heart of Manhattan and cost just £299. Students will leave in two groups, one on January 4 and the other on January 5.

All final year students are eligible to apply and accepted applications will qualify for a special £600 bursary which will be deducted from the estimated £899 cost of the visit. Travel, accommodation and transfers will be booked internally by the #DMUglobal team.

Ahtesham Mahmood, President of De Montfort Students’ Union (DSU), went on the last mass #DMUglobal trip to New York in January 2017.

He said: “As someone who has already travelled to New York with #DMUglobal, I can’t recommend this opportunity enough. It is honestly a once in a lifetime opportunity – and where else would you be offered the chance to travel to the Big Apple at such a low cost, alongside your studies?

“The best thing about the trip for me was being able to stand in the iconic Times Square alongside my friends, and knowing that we were expanding our international outlook.

“For final-year students, it’s a great way to reward yourself with a break from the usual revision by creating a truly memorable experience.

“This is something that students will cherish forever, so put the dates in your diary and sign up now!”

#DMUglobal’s first New York trip in January saw 1,000 students and staff spend five nights in the city. It was the university’s first-ever mass #DMUglobal trip and thought to be the single largest overseas trip ever by a UK university.
