Legendary actress Claire Bloom is used to holding audiences spellbound, and last night at De Montfort University Leicester (DMU) was no exception.
Ms Bloom was special guest at the launch day of Cultural Exchanges, an annual festival entirely organised by DMU students.
In a riveting conversation with Professor Steve Chibnall, of DMU’s renowned Cinema and Television History centre (CATH) and drama specialist Alissa Clarke, the audience gained an insight in to her illustrious acting career.
An actress of stage and screen she has worked with a veritable Who’s Who of acting royalty, from Charlie Chaplin to Richard Burton, Laurence Olivier and Paul Newman. Her performances in Shakespeare plays led critic Kenneth Tynan to described her as “the best Juliet I’ve ever seen”.
