Dr Taha Hussein Rassem is a Senior Lecturer in Computing at the School of Computer Science and Informatics, De Montfort University. He previously served as a Research Fellow at the Faculty of Science and Technology, Bournemouth University, UK, from October 2021 to April 2023, and continues his association with Bournemouth University as a Visiting Fellow until May 2026. Prior to this, Dr. Rassem was a Senior Lecturer at the Faculty of Computing, University Malaysia Pahang (UMP) from August 2014 to September 2021 and held the position of Assistant Lecturer at the University of Hodeidah, Yemen, from 2001 to 2005.
He earned his Ph.D. in Computer Engineering (Imaging) from Universiti Sains Malaysia, Penang, in 2014, a Master of Technology (M.Tech) in Computer Science from the University of Hyderabad, India, in 2007, and a Bachelor of Science (B.Sc.) in Computer Engineering from the University of Technology, Baghdad, Iraq, in 2001.
Dr. Rassem's research focuses on Image Processing, Object Class Recognition, AI, Machine Learning, Deep learning, Texture Classification, and Digital Watermarking. His teaching expertise spans Programming, Image Processing, Multimedia, Virtual and Augmented Reality, Graphical User Interfaces, Human-Computer Interaction, Web Programming, and Android Mobile Application Development
