Dr Jeff Davies

Dr. Jeff Davies is a qualified audiologist and senior lecturer in audiology within the School of Allied Health Sciences. Jeff graduated from De Montfort University with a first class BSc (hons) degree in Audiology and went on to work within the NHS, as a clinical audiologist in 2010. Jeff studied for his PhD in auditory neuroscience at the University of Nottingham where he was awarded a Deafness Research UK funded studentship. His PhD research used functional magnetic resonance imaging (fMRI) to investigate neural brain mechanisms in individuals with tinnitus and hearing loss. He has also been involved in a number of other collaborative and independent research projects, most recently a prospective study of hearing loss in Gujarat, India. Jeff still holds an honorary contract within the NHS where he continues his clinical practice in audiology.

Jeff currently holds memberships with the British Academy of Audiology, the British Society of Audiology and the British Tinnitus Association.

He is also registered with the Registration Council for Clinical Physiologists (6833).

In December 2016, Jeff was involved in a DMU Square Mile India initiative which saw him, fellow colleague Wendy Stevens and six students successfully set-up a hearing screening outreach clinic in Gujarat, India. Jeff recently presented findings from the trip at the 2017 British Society of Audiology National Conference. Jeff is currently conducting a pedagogic study which aims to better understand the impact that global work-based learning may have on the (audiology) students' experience and clinical development.
