Tom is a part-time Lecturer at Leicester De Montfort Law School, teaching on the postgraduate Medical Law & Ethics module; Issues Relating to the Termination of Life and supervising postgraduate law students.

With a wide range of research interests including; access to abortion, autonomy, Act -v- Omission at the end of life and Best Interests; the focus of Tom's research is in the law and ethics at the end of life, particularly in the application of sedation and withdrawal of nutrition & hydration at the end of life; the legal and ethical situation in terms of dying without pain, the link to autotomy and dignity and importantly, the intention of individuals and society.
