Personal profile

In my current role at De Montfort University, I lead BA (Hons) Business and Marketing programme. I am involved in the design, development, delivery and assessment of a wide range of Marketing modules with responsibilities as:

Prior to academia, I have spent several years working for financial institutions in different roles in insurance, international banking, credit cards, marketing & product development departments. In my last banking role, I was in charge of a Marketing and Product Development unit of a large retail bank in Turkey. In 2002, I left banking to pursue further academic studies which comprised an MSc in Management and Business Research Methods and the award of a PhD by the Open University. I have been teaching a range of courses within Marketing and Management topics since 2007 at different levels including UG and PG levels involving face-to-face, distance learning and blended-learning programmes. I use and promote a range of innovative methods in teaching, learning and assessment including digital and modern modes of delivery. In addition, I design and deliver training to Marketing professionals and SMEs overseas, and hence contribute to the internationalisation of the institutions that I work for.

Research interests/expertise

I am a research active academic, completed De Montfort University Vice-Chancellor’s Future Research Leaders programme in September 2020. I have extensive supervision experience at UG and PG levels involving UK, EU and international students. I supervised over 100 MBA, MSc and MA dissertation students to successful completions. I currently supervise DBA students.

I am research active with a fast-developing research programme including various international publications and research funding applications. Building on my professional background and PhD research, my research interest has been on financial services and marketing with particular focus on relationship marketing, service quality, customer satisfaction and marketing communications.

I have extensive supervision experience at UG and PG levels involving UK, EU and International students. I supervised over 100 MBA, MSc and MA dissertation students to successful completions.
