10 - 14 June 2013

Duration: 1 Week Full Time

Location: DMU Leicester

Award: 10 Credits

Assessment: Practical Examination 2 hours

This module presents, in a practical setting, a series of techniques that allow a step by step deconstruction of Microsoft Office binary documents and the extraction, in a completely verifiable and forensically sound manner, of all of the embedded metadata and of all of the storages and streams. It also demonstrates how damaged portions of documents may be recognised and, in some cases, reconstructed.

For students studying this continuing professional development module, there is an associated coursework module which is taken as part of the MSc/PGDip/PGCert programme.
