Alternative Operating System Forensics

Assessment: Practical Examination 2 hours, Written Examination 1.5 hours

This module introduces students to common alternative operating systems and associated file systems and applications as a means of conducting a forensic examination and as sources of potential evidence. Unix and Unix-like systems BSD, System V, Solaris, Linux distributions, FreeBSD,NetBSD,OpenBSD and MacOS will be considered.

For students studying this continuing professional development module, there is an associated coursework module which is taken as part of the MSc/PGDip/PGCert programme.
