Managing Organisations

Module code: BAMG 3105

Module description

This module introduces students to the principles which underpin organising and organisations. It charts the structure of work organisations from their inception to more contemporary forms, and uses traditional dimensions of organizational structure to determine the strengths and limitations these. The module considers the ways in which organizational design constitutes a means of management control, and then discusses alternative manifestations of control through culture and organizational development. The module then explores the concept of organizational development and how, through the process of change, this can be seen as both a strategic and an operational intervention.
