Centre for Comparative Housing Research

The Centre for Comparative Housing Research (CCHR), located within the Business School’s Department of Politics and Public Policy, brings together a unique team who are experienced in delivering  high quality consultancy, research and teaching in the field of housing, social research and public policy.

Housing Research and Consultancy

Research and consultancy expertise in the Centre covers a range of issues. We have a number of research associates who complement the skills and expertise of the core CCHR team. The team often work in partnership with other organisations to deliver projects on a wide range of themes.  These include, for example: housing theory, social housing management, resilience of frontline housing officers, Gypsy/Traveller accommodation issues, asset based community development approaches, conflict resolution, and evaluation of housing/employment projects:

• Conservative Social Thought
• Gypsies and Travellers
• Housing and Vulnerable Groups
• Private Rented Sector
• Theoretical Approaches to Housing Theory

Postgraduate Research

CCHR staff supervise a number of students undertaking their research degrees.  We are particularly keen to hear PhD applications from people who are considering research in the following areas:

  • Theories on/of housing
  • Marginalised communities
  • Innovative methods of delivering new housing
  • Community engagement, asset based approaches
  • Housing and employment initiatives
  • Gypsy and Traveller accommodation issues

Housing Courses

The housing courses delivered by the Centre for Comparative Housing Research (CCHR), within Leicester Business School, offer a balanced mix of academic rigour and practical skill development.

The content of our courses is regularly updated to take into account the frequent changes in public policy.

The Centre has successfully developed its courses in collaboration with local employers and the Chartered Institute of Housing. We also have a track record of  developing specific training programmes for housing organisations. Our students study whilst working in housing-related jobs.

For a full list of our online distance learning courses and further details see our Courses section.
