A quality research environment 

De Montfort University (DMU) is one of the leading research institutions and has been training PhD students for more than 60 years.

The aim of the Graduate School is to support DMU’s postgraduate research students and staff. We offer efficient administrative assistance and an effective researcher development programme that encourages our research students to achieve their maximum research potential.

Our research students can take advantage of our researcher development programme to help them during their studies whilst in addition finding further support through the Postgraduate Research Students Association.

The Graduate School Office is also on hand to support both research students and staff in ensuring that students can achieve their potential whilst studying at DMU. 

Vice-Chancellor 's 2020 scholarship

DMU graduates can receive a tuition fee discount of up to 50 per cent. The discount is available on selected full-time, part-time and distance learning postgraduate courses running across multiple start dates in the 2018/19 academic session.               

The Vice-Chancellor 2020 Scholarship, based on academic achievement and merit, applies automatically to all DMU Home and EU students who are graduating in 2018 or have graduated within the last two years (2017 or 2016)* and achieved a 2:1 (or equivalent) or above. It is applicable to students progressing from undergraduate to postgraduate taught study, and those progressing from postgraduate taught to postgraduate research study including; PhD, MPhil, Master’s by Research and Master’s in Research MRes.

* Courses completed in academic session 2016/17 or 2015/16 will attract a 25 per cent tuition fee discount
