Informing the University

Should I inform the university about my disability?

You may think that having a disability or medical condition will affect you being accepted at University. This is definitely not the case. In accordance with the Equality Act 2010 we actively encourage students to inform us; DMU welcomes applications from prospective disabled students. Application decisions are based on academic merit and potential.

We positively encourage students to inform us of a disability or medical condition, as this will enable us to work with the student and their parents/carers to ensure relevant support is available.

Why should I inform the University about a disability?

We want to make sure that all our students get the most from University life. By advising us about your disability as early as possible, we can identify any support that you might need.

When and how can I inform the University about my disability?

We recommend that you inform us of any disabilities and your support needs when you complete your UCAS application form. This will help you to prepare for studying at university and feel confident about the support available.
