It's graduation week!

graduations-2012-17

All this week we are hosting our summer graduations. We are welcoming hundreds of students and their families back onto campus to celebrate their time at university and see them head out into the world.

These are the first summer graduations to be held at Curve, after an extremely successful set of ceremonies in January. We will also be holding receptions on the campus after each ceremony. It's sure to be a week full of excitement and pride.

Along with our students we will be honouring some of the great and good including Lady Gretton, the Lord Lieutenant of Leicestershire who helped us so much with Her Majesty The Queen's visit earlier this year; Lewis Moody, the England and Leicester Tigers rugby legend who studied a business degree here; and Moira Stewart, who has been a constant presence on our TV screens and radios for the past 20 years.

We are a brilliant university – a university of quality and distinctiveness –and without our students' drive and ambition, and without their success stories, we would not be making the great strides that we are in the world of higher education.

I would like you to join me in congratulating them all, whether you are their teacher, working on the graduations themselves, or just supporting the work of the university. I would also like to thank you all for helping them reach this point, for supporting them, nurturing them, and finally saying goodbye to them as they head out into the world.

This week is what DMU is all about and we should all be very proud.
