"Teamwork is no accident. It is the by-product of good leadership"
It is within us all at DMU to be leaders, because leadership is a natural expression of the calling that brought each of us here: a real belief in what we do, because of the good it can do, and a desire to share that. Recent achievements and endorsements, like our QAA commendation, only add to that collective confidence, because the remind us DMU's instincts are already leading the way across higher education.
As good leadership runs on enthusiasm, we can immediately build here from a position of strength. Your ideas, pooled from the last Staff Engagement Survey, showed a broad, intrinsic understanding of the extra diemensions opened up by a strong direction.
Our Leadership Charter sets out the tenets of what it means to be a leader at DMU. We know already it is not about job titles or seniority. What we communicate clearly among ourselves, we aspire more widely. That means we can act more effectively and simply achieve more, together.
Thank you for your support.
With best wishes,
Professor Dominic Shellard
Vice-Chancellor of De Montfort University
