Xi'an Polytechnic University (XPU)
Xi’an Polytechnic University (XPU) was founded in 1912. The university currently consists of 14 Schools with over 20,000 students. It is a non-profit public institution located in Xi’an in Shaanxi Province and institutionally it is currently ranked in the top quartile in China. By subject area, XPU’s School of Apparel and Design’s fashion programmes are ranked in top 5. Fashion is a growing market in Chinese higher education with a number of universities offering such a provision. XPU was the first Chinese university to set up fashion-related undergraduate and postgraduate taught programmes in China.
XPU is the only university specialising in Textile and Apparel Design in West China and XPU’s art and fashion related subjects currently top the national rankings. XPU has been rated in the top ten fashion schools by China Fashion Design Association and was ranked 4th in the China Graduate Fashion Week, an annual event attended by Chinese universities with fashion design programs.
De Montfort University’s School of Fashion & Textiles is highly ranked and highly regarded across the fashion and textiles education sector in the UK. The partnership with XPU commenced with the delivery of a Joint dual award four-year programme, in September 2023.
