Reflective Management Practice

Overview

Reflective Management Practice| is an innovative approach to continuous learning which equips managers with the skills to reflect on actions and outcomes and critically assess how personal performance can be enhanced.

The Diploma in Reflective Management Practice at De Montfort University offers a truly effective approach to management development, emphasising practical action-based learning and so extending the manager’s skill set far beyond the traditional business and management theoretical toolkit.

Participants will discover how to learn continuously and improve their practice by reflecting upon and analysing their performance and developing strategies and tactics informed by this process.

Key features

The Diploma is infinitely flexible; it can be designed to reflect the key strategic imperatives facing your organisation and/or specific management development requirements.

The Diploma works perfectly as a complementary programme to a suite of master classes or as a vehicle for an organisation to gain accreditation for in-house learning.

We believe that combining two distinct learning elements, a taught intervention with individual continuous reflective practice provides a unique professional development route for a diverse range of managers across an organisation.

Structure and content

The programme is assessed through individual critical reflective summaries;

Summary - a summary of work undertaken in relation to a specified unit of competence

Reflective - encourages participants to reflect upon learning in relation to their work experience, to consider the limitations of their experience and to plan future actions as a consequence of learning

Critical - encourages participants to critically evaluate personal performance, observed managerial practice and management theory.
