Supporting 10:10

We are supporting 10:10|, an international campaign to reduce carbon emissions by 10 per cent in 2010. We have reduced our emissions by 10 per cent since 2005 and, with a concerted effort, hope to make the further 10 per cent reduction by August 2011. If you're looking to make a difference, our experts in the IESD have put together their top 10 green tips| to help you. From transforming your house, to shopping smarter, there are loads of ways you can make a difference.

How else can I contribute?

Anyone can sign up to the 10:10 campaign, including individuals, businesses and organisations. Visit their website| and get involved now!

Staff and students at DMU can also get involved in the Degrees Cooler campaign, run by the NUS, to help reduce the emissions.

As part of Degrees Cooler, the Green Impact scheme allows staff to 'green their workplace' by completing a number of environmental activities including saving energy and making smarter travel choices|.

Last year, 13 teams across the university took part and this year we are aiming for even more.

The Student Switch Off| is also part of the Degrees Cooler initiative and is an energy saving competition between halls of residence.

The Student Switch Off is taking place in Bede and New Wharf Halls of residence.
