Palliative Care
DMU Undergraduate Modules and Programmes
DMU provides a number of undergraduate palliative care modules|. These can taken as single stand alone modules or combined with other modules within an undergraduate programme|.
Joint Delivery between DMU and LOROS
DMU and the Leicestershire and Rutland Hospice| (LOROS) have worked closely for a number of years. This has recently been formalised by the creation of two joint programmes:
University Certificate of Professional Development (UCPD) in End of Life Care
This is a 60 credit degree level award. It consists of two 30 credit modules:
-
NMAH 3501: Fundamentals of Palliative Care
-
NMAH 3502: Enhancing Communication Skills in End of Life Care.
Either module can be undertaken on a standalone basis for continuing professional development purposes.
Please note. Since neither of these two modules contain an assessed practice element they cannot be accessed as option modules within the 60-credit BSc Health and Professional Practice or the 120-credit BSc (Hons) Health and Professional Practice programme.
-
MSc Palliative Care
This is a postgraduate programme of study. Students can access individual modules under a "stand alone" basis; accumulate 60 credits for a postgraduate certificate; 120 credit for a postgraduate diploma; or 180 credits for the MSc award.
Study opportunities within LOROS
In addition to the joint provision with DMU, LOROS provides a large range of LOROS study days and short courses| open to health and social care professionals, volunteers and to members of the public.
