School of Arts
The School of Arts at De Montfort University encompasses performance arts, visual arts and arts management courses, offering undergraduate and postgraduate study that encourages a cutting-edge approach to contemporary practice together with strong academic critical enquiry and analysis.
Study within the School is underpinned by our academic staff many of whom are active practitioners and leading researchers. Our high-grade teaching provides an innovative and creative learning environment.
At the core of the School are a range of first class facilities including the Performance Arts Centre of Excellence (PACE) building and extensive fine art studios.
The School encourages and facilitates regular student exhibitions and performances. Annual events include the University Dance Festival, the Drama Studies showcase Exit Souls, Glorious Collisions featuring our Performance Arts students and a range of visual arts exhibitions.
With much of the School's activity forming part of the City's cultural life we have developed several partnerships with key cultural centres and organisations. These include the Curve Threatre and Phoenix Square including the DMU Cube exhibition space. The University has recently signed a partnership with Leicester's nationally renowned Comedy Festival.
Research is key to the our success and informs all our undergraduate and postgraduate teaching and learning. Our areas of expertise include Contemporary Dance, Performance Practices, Renaissance theatre and Fine Art Practice.
