Class of 2017: Winter Graduations

Many of our Class of 2017 have started exciting new careers straight away and we’ve been celebrating the fantastic achievements of all of the students graduating in January.

Hundreds of De Montfort University Leicester (DMU) students graduated during spectacular ceremonies at the university’s award-winning events centre, The Venue@DMU.

Graduating alongside students were some high-profile honorands, including Leicester City’s Premier League-winning manager Claudio Ranieri who was awarded a Doctor of Arts degree by DMU. He thanked the university for the experience and also his players for making 'something special' happen last year.

Inspirational former England rugby star Matt Hampson – who was left paralysed after a freak accident in training - was also honoured for his charity fundraising efforts and gave a moving speech urging graduates to 'get busy living'.

As part of these ceremonies guests also witnessed an exclusive fashion show by Leicester City star Christian Fuchs and his fashion label #NoFuchsGiven as well as a showcase of DMU graduate Hazel Symons' designs.
