DMU at the United Nations
Vice-Chancellor Professor Dominic Shellard gave an address at the UN as part of the 67th annual United Nations Department of Public Information (DPI)/Non-Governmental Organization (NGO) Conference.
As part of the conference, DMU students also pitched ideas to improve local communities. DMU hosted one of four breakout sessions at the UN, addressing an audience of around 500 delegates.
The opportunity was given to DMU as a result of its ongoing work to support the UN’s 17 Sustainable Development Goals – work which has seen the university being chosen by the United Nations Academic Impact group as a ‘designated hub’ for SDG number 16 – the promotion of peaceful and inclusive societies for sustainable development, providing access to justice for all and building effective, accountable and inclusive institutions at all levels.
