Up to 1,000 final year De Montfort University Leicester (DMU) students are being offered a once in a lifetime opportunity to travel to New York this January with #DMUglobal.
Aimed at enhancing students’ global outlook, the trip will contain a mixture of academic, cultural and networking opportunities, as well as a chance to explore the Big Apple.
The unique trip will be open to undergraduate students on all courses, across all faculties and will come with an exclusive offer.
Students will be eligible for special £600 bursary which will be deducted from travel, accommodation and transfer costs which will booked internally by #DMUglobal. The estimated total cost of travel, accommodation and transfers is £850.
The trip will be for five nights from Tuesday 3 January - Sunday 8 January, with students staying in the heart of Manhattan.
De Montfort Students’ Union President Dan Winney who has been involved in the planning of this event said: “This is an amazing opportunity for our final years as it boosts their employability prospects at a time where they will start to think about life after University.
“It will provide a chance to enhance global outlook, engage in different networking opportunities and help give inspiration towards their final projects here at DMU.”
The trip will provide opportunities to network, develop new and existing skills and boost the future employability prospects of students ahead of graduating.
A wide variety of trip events will be based around students’ chosen themes which include: Business and Finance, Fashion and Textiles, English Language, LGBT History, Music Technology, Media Production, Sport and many more.
Students will also have the chance to explore some of the city’s most famous landmarks including: the 9/11 Memorial Museum, Rockefeller Center, and the Empire State Building.
The news comes a week after the new round of applications were announced for DMU’s flagship project which will send many more DMU students on European and International trips during 2017 for a truly global experience.
Winning the Times Higher Education Leadership Management Award for Outstanding International Strategy in June 2016, #DMUglobal is the inspiration behind DMU’s new international strategy 2016-2020.
This strategy is taking the institution into the world and ensuring that by 2020, DMU is the definition of a 21st century global university.
Dan added: “#DMUglobal is a fantastic initiative for students to get involved with.
“There are so many different opportunities in so many diverse countries which means there really is something for everyone.”
Applications are now open for the trip and students have until Monday 7 November at 9am to submit an application.
Students will be offered a place should they meet all requirements at the review process and will need to complete all necessary documentation thereafter to secure their place.
Places across trip themes are limited, so apply today before it’s too late.
