Held across a number of European capital cities over the summer, ‘De Montfort University – British Education is GREAT’ events will tell the story of the welcoming and vibrant learning experience at DMU and demonstrate that the UK remains open to all students from every country in the world.

The GREAT Britain campaign, active in more than 140 countries, is the Government’s most ambitious international marketing campaign ever, promoting the UK as a world-class destination for trade, tourism, investment and education.

DMU’s Vice-Chancellor Professor Dominic Shellard will be sharing the positive messages from the university’s #LoveInternational campaign during these events, the first of which is being held in Nicosia, Cyprus.

Professor Shellard said: “We take great pride in the fact that DMU is a global university. These events will give us an opportunity to showcase our university’s innovation, creativity and academic excellence, to answer people's questions, and explain how Leicester is such a diverse and vibrant place in which to live.

“We will confirm that, despite recent political developments, DMU, Leicester and the UK are still very much open for business.”

#LoveInternational, launched following the outcome of the EU Referendum vote, reaffirms what everyone who works and studies at DMU already knows – that the university is welcoming and supportive of all its students and staff.

Echoing this philosophy, Architecture student Antigoni Patsalou from Cyprus said: “I feel very fortunate to be graduating from DMU’s Leicester School of Architecture, as it is a school that embraces the diversity of its students.

“I was lucky enough to become friends from people coming from all around the EU, who introduced me to different cultures and social backgrounds.

“It is important to be able to experience this diversity as it sets you to become a better informed individual, while globalisation reaches crucial times.”

As an institution proud of its truly global outlook, DMU welcomes students from more than 130 countries in the world.

Director of the GREAT Britain Campaign, Conrad Bird CBE said: “I am delighted that GREAT can be involved once again with DMU. I welcome the university’s continued natural instinct to celebrate students from Europe, and around the world.

“The events being held across Europe, and the positive messages they embrace, reflect the thinking behind the GREAT Britain campaign – showcasing the best of what the UK has to offer, and inspiring people to come to the UK to study.”

As part of the #LoveInternational story so far, DMU has created the LoveEU Bundle for EU students which includes, among its assurances, guaranteed home-rate tuition fees up to and including entry in 2018/19.

The events, running through July and August in Cyprus, Poland, Lithuania, Germany and Sweden, will give potential students and European partners the opportunity to find out more about DMU, network and participate in valuable discussions.
