DMU students wow legendary designers at Chinese show


Students from De Montfort University Leicester (DMU) helped to showcase the best of British creativity at a high-profile event in China.

Design, fashion, entertainment and education were all part of the GREAT Creator graduate show, staged by the British Embassy in Beijing.

Among the guests at a prestigious launch event were legendary shoe designer and DMU honorand Jimmy Choo, ASOS chief design officer Leandra O'Sullivan and representatives from brand giant Ogilvy and Mather.

Joining them will be students from Fashion Textiles and AccessoriesProduct Design, Footwear Design, Game Art Design, Fashion, Contour Fashion, Illustration and Animation.

The Government's GREAT campaign is its leading trade showcase. Earlier this year, DMU was part of a larger event in Shanghai, led by Prince William, the Duke of Cambridge.

Work from DMU students which has been shown on the catwalks of Graduate Fashion Week will go on display as part of the weekend's event, a mix of exhibitions, lectures and master classes which is open to the public.

Student-designed interactive games, footwear, products and fashion will also be on display with students there to talk to visitors about.

DMU was chosen by No 10 Downing Street as the sole UK higher education representative, giving the university the chance to partner with internationally-renowned UK brands including HSBC, British Airways, Jaguar Land Rover and BBC Worldwide.
