Ellie Gabriel, Dance student who is one of the DMU Saints social secretaries, said: “We’d never competed in this contest before and we were very fortunate to be asked to take part so to win it is incredible.

“The university has been very supportive so it’s good to bring home a couple of trophies to DMU!”

The team, who normally train for five hours a week, put in some long hours to train for the event. The Sunday before the competition they practised for five hours straight to perfect their routines.

The Saints will be bringing their two trophies back to the campus over the summer.
