De Montfort University Leicester (DMU) students could be heading off to Beijing this summer with two of the latest #DMUglobal opportunities set to provide valuable international experience.
#DMUglobal is the university’s ambitious programme giving students enriching international opportunities on campus, in the UK and overseas.
Among the latest opportunities is the incredible chance for students to experience China’s magical capital, learn Mandarin and gain an insight into Chinese culture with two opportunities at the University of Science and Technology in Beijing (USTB) – a top university partnered with DMU.
For those who have studied some Mandarin before with DMU’s Confucius Institute (CI), there is the opportunity to apply for an exciting four-week scholarship, to further their language study with classes at USTB, as well as experiencing Beijing first-hand.
The second opportunity with USTB is a two-week summer school open to all students, which includes beginners’ Mandarin classes as well as cultural trips around the city.
Both opportunities will take students to fascinating sights including the Great Wall of China, the Summer Palace and the 798 art district, as well as the chance to explore Beijing’s many hutongs, narrow alleys typical of this part of China.

Supported by the CI, the university’s centre providing Chinese language and cultural learning on campus, these opportunities are generously subsidised to give students the best chance to take part.
Other new opportunities include a contour fashion internship in Hong Kong with a leading global company, and the chance for second year nursing students to create their own two-week international experience related to their degree.
All students can also now apply for a three-week intensive culture, language and business programme in Shanghai with Study China, taking place in August this year.
It is a great time to get involved and experience new cultures, and #DMUglobal will reveal new opportunities this summer for 2015/16.
Students are also set to benefit following the announcement of a major expansion, so that all DMU undergraduate courses will include at least one #DMUglobal module by September 2015.
