Amy Bickley
Events Organiser
Amy joined the events office in June 2010 as Events Assistant, and has since moved on to the role of Events Organiser. Amy has been involved with a range of university events from lectures, lunches and exhibitions, to open days and graduations.
One of Amy’s highlights from 2011 was organising and managing all of the activities for four former political prisoners in South Africa – Marcus Solomon, Mark Shinners, Sedick Isaacs and Lizo Sitoto - who were awarded a companionship of the university during the summer graduation ceremonies.
Amy’s highlight for 2012 was organising the royal visit to De Montfort University to mark the start of The Queens Diamond Jubilee tour of the United Kingdom. Her Majesty The Queen, His Royal Highness the Duke of Edinburgh and Her Royal Highness the Duchess of Cambridge, were welcomed onto campus in March 2012 to see a showcase of the university’s students, graduates, staff and culture. Amy says “it was such a privilege to be able to organise such an important and exciting event for DMU – it’s certainly something I’ll never forget!”
Prior to joining DMU, Amy worked for Peyton Events as the Venue and Events Coordinator at the British Library and National Gallery.
