This talk investigates the truth of the proposal that assessment drives learning and peer learning will lead to deep-rooted accommodation and assimilation of knowledge. An 'experiment' was undertaken whereby the lecturer became the observer and the student was given free rein to research and discuss very complex and substantive legal, topics on which a credit bearing examination was looming. Could the infinite monkey theorem be true? Surely not?
