Description

In Leicester, the risk of flooding is not always obvious as the River Soar’s tributaries are often hidden in the urban environment. Our Science Café aims to increase awareness and preparation for flooding. Come along to find out more if you live or work in an area particularly susceptible to flooding and discover potential causes and understand how you and your community can be better prepared by interacting with the Leicester Water Community platform.

There will also be a talk by Professor Parvez Haris, Head of the Biomedical and Environmental Health Group, on using green technology to clean water, both locally and globally. This will cover research on the use of the water hyacinth plant to remove harmful substances from drinking water and polluted rivers.
