Dr Emmanouil Tyllianakis

My work helps with furthering the socio-economic impact of land/water management decisions. My work moves along these two research lines: 1) Understanding how human behaviour affects water ecosystems and human welfare in return and 2) Capturing the implications of climate change and over-exploitation of resources in economic terms and how this can be linked to perceptions.

Prior to joining DMU I worked as a Research Fellow at the Sustainability Research Institute (SRI) at the University of Leeds in two Horizon 2020 projects (CONSOLE and DRYvER). Prior to that as an Environmental Economist for Defra’s Centre for Environment, Fisheries and Aquaculture Science (Cefas) in the UK. There I was involved in projects in the Caribbean region, South-East Asia and Europe spanning from the economic valuation of costs from hurricanes, to the value of cultural ecosystem services and the value of mitigation for marine plastic pollution.
