Personal profile

Dr Abolfazl Zahedi awarded his PhD (2013) in Mechanical Engineering from Loughborough University. Following the completion of his PhD, Abolfazl received a Marie Curie research fellowship, which provided funding for a year to extend his collaboration with Mechanics of Advanced Material research group in Loughborough University. After finishing his fellowship, he joint to Advance Forming Research Centre (AFRC) in University of Strathclyde. He led a number of large engineering projects including manufacturing of a complex part by hydroforming process. Abolfazl started his position (2015) as a research fellow in the School of Mechanical, Aerospace and Civil Engineering (MACE) in the University of Manchester. Since 2016 Abolfazl has appointed a Lecturer/Senior Lecturer role at De Montfort University. His main research interest are computational material modelling, biomechanics, and dynamic and vibration analysis. He conducts his full time research study in a range of topics, such as fracture, crystal plasticity, metal forming, and vibration analysis.

Dr Zahedi is a Chartered Engineer and a member of the Institution of Mechanical Engineers in UK.

Dr Abolfazl Zahedi as a lecturer in the School of Engineering and Sustainable Development is looking to develop his research further through the supervision of PhD students and his own personal contributions. Current research activities involve a mixture of modelling and experimental work, including:

  • Experimental and Computational Biomechanics
  • Solid Mechanics, Continuum (Damage) Mechanics, Fatigue and Fracture Analysis
  • Dynamics & Vibrations of Structures
